Go green for growth: sustainable brands grow faster, says Unilever
Unilever has revealed that its sustainable brands are its fastest growing, according to a report published by The Drum. The Dutch FMCG manufacturer revealed that its 26 environmentally friendly are growing 46 percent faster than the remainder of its portfolio.
Indeed, these brands, which include Dove and Sunsilk, have posted growth for four years on the trot and now account for 79 percent of Unilever’s turnover, says The Drum.
The manufacturer of Lynx also revealed that it was on track to meet 80 percent of its internal sustainability targets.
“Ever since we launched the USLP in 2010 we have reported openly on our progress. We have made great strides in meeting many of the ambitious targets we set ourselves and the fact that our sustainable living brands are continuing to deliver growth shows that this is a business model that works,” Paul Polman, CEO, told The Drum.
“We also want to be transparent about how much more there is to do. This is critical because transparency is what gives our business its most important asset – trust. At a time when there is a crisis of trust in many institutions across the world, there has never been a more important time for business to play a leading role in restoring it.”
