Ministry of Labour investigates after 45000-lb. piece of machinery falls on man’s hand

The Ministry of Labour is investigating after a piece of equipment fell on a man’s hand Friday morning at stamping plant.

The Ministry of Labour is investigating after a piece of equipment fell on a man’s hand Friday morning at stamping plant.

Tecumseh Fire Chief Doug Pitre said the accident happened around 9:10 a.m. at Precision Stamping in Oldcastle. The Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Service and Essex County OPP also responded.

The worker was taken to hospital but the extent of his injuries was unknown.

Janet Deline with the Ministry of Labour said an inspector was on the way to the factory Friday afternoon.

“It was reported to us that a die had allegedly flipped from a forklift and injured a worker’s hand,” said Deline.
