No photoshop: MAC splits the internet with visible facial hair

MAC Cosmetics has divided opinion across its social media following by posting images that have not been altered to remove facial hair, according to a report published by Refinery 29.

The Lauder-owned brand has decided to post images that haven’t been digitally altered via Photoshop, FaceTune or other skin-perfecting apps meaning that facial hair is visible, particularly in shots that focus on the lips.

One particular image, taken by MUA Matthew King has led several fans to post negative comments with one writing ‘wax it darling’ and another requesting ‘when you show pictures of your lips, please treat the hair around your lips’.  Others have leapt to the brand (and model’s) defence, praising the brand for their ‘refreshing’ lack of digital alteration.
