[ Other – News & Events ] Open Question : What do you think of the recent incident on a college campus where a white student called the police for a black student napping?

Sarah Braasch, a PhD student in Philosophy at Yale, called the police on a black student Lolade Siyonbola for napping in the campus’ common area. Siyonbola was writing a paper for her graduate African Studies class and then fell asleep on the couch. Braasch called the police on her and tried recording Siyonbola when confronted. Siyonbola similarly recorded the conversation and posted the everything through a live Facebook feed. She alleges discrimination. Braasch reportedly called the police when a black student was sitting in the stairwell. She is pursuing her fifth degree in Philosophy currently. Braasch holds degrees in Aerospace Engineering (B.S.), Mechanical Engineering (B.S.), Law (JD) and Philosophy (MA). Siyonbola has a B.S. in Computer Science and is pursuing her PhD in African Studies.
