Rakuten has launched a live video streaming service, called Rakuten Live, which will allow artists, celebrities and general users to play video streaming and communicate with viewers directly.
Viewers can enjoy interactive communication with streamers in real-time by sending comments and ‘gifts’ to show their support.
The service also offers a direct trading function where viewers can access the site to buy products displayed in video streaming, which allows buyers to make purchases while watching. Artists, celebrities and other streamers can effectively promote products through services by highlighting the attractiveness of products and engaging in interactive communication with viewers.
Rakuten Live’s direct trading function will also be linked to other services offered by the Rakuten Group. Rakuten Live aims to provide an interesting and diverse direct trading experience through collaboration with various e-commerce services such as the Rakuten Ichiba online shopping mall, Rakuten Books and Rakuten Tickets, with future plans to include videos featuring merchants featuring traders from Rakuten Ichiba.
With the growing popularity of social media and video sharing services, it is now possible for anyone to easily share content. Fans can now engage in interactive two-way communication with artists and celebrities in ways that were previously impossible. In addition to offering a live entertainment experience that promotes user participation, Rakuten Live utilizes the Rakuten group e-commerce service to provide a strong direct trading experience, creating the next generation live video streaming service.
